Ingredients:

  • 300g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 45g (1/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 7g (1 packet) dry yeast
  • 140ml (3/5 cup) hot milk (not boiling)
  • 40g (1/4 cup) softened unsalted butter

For the Decoration:

  • Whipped cream (freshly whipped)
  • Fresh strawberries, chopped
  • Granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

Preparation:

In a medium bowl, combine sugar, yeast, and hot milk. Stir until the yeast dissolves and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Whisk in the egg. Add flour and salt, and mix with a spatula until a shaggy dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Incorporate the softened butter and continue kneading until fully combined. Shape the dough into a ball, place it in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a ball. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes. Flatten each ball slightly, then reshape into a ball. Cover and let rest for another 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a deep pan over low heat. Fry the dough balls for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and let cool slightly. Slice each ball horizontally, like a burger bun. Fill one half with a generous dollop of whipped cream and top with chopped strawberries. Close with the other half, sprinkle with granulated sugar, and serve immediately.

Enjoy these irresistible Strawberry Bombs, perfect for a sweet treat or dessert!
