Delicious Stuffed Cabbage Rolls Recipe: A Hearty Comfort Food
Ingredients:
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 600g ground pork
- 150g long-grain rice
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped
- 20cl chicken broth
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 300g tomato coulis
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- 12 stalks of green spring onions
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Preparation:
Start by preparing the cabbage leaves. Remove the stalk and carefully detach the first few leaves. Strip and blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling salted water for 10 minutes, then refresh them in ice water to preserve their vibrant color.
Next, sauté the chopped onions in olive oil with a pinch of salt for 5 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent browning. Cook the rice according to the package instructions in a separate saucepan.
In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, cooked rice, sautéed onions, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well incorporated.
Blanch the green stalks of spring onions in boiling water for a few seconds, then refresh them immediately. Lay the blanched cabbage leaves flat, spoon the pork and rice mixture onto each leaf, and roll them up tightly. Secure each roll with a blanched spring onion stalk.
Place the stuffed cabbage rolls in a gratin dish, moisten with chicken broth, and cover with aluminum foil. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 45 minutes.
Meanwhile, heat the tomato coulis in a saucepan. Once the cabbage rolls are baked, pour the warmed tomato coulis into a serving dish and arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls on top. Sprinkle each roll with a pinch of smoked paprika for added flavor and color.
Serve hot and enjoy this comforting, flavorful dish that’s perfect for family dinners or special occasions!
