Ingredients
- 1 lb ground sirloin
- 2 cups uncooked pasta shells
- 4 oz tomato sauce
- 1/4 small onion, chopped
- 1/4 bell pepper, sliced
- 4-5 cups water
- 1 beef bullion cube
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Preparation
Start by browning the ground sirloin in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Drain excess fat, then add the uncooked pasta shells and stir to lightly fry them with the beef. Add the chopped onion, sliced bell pepper, and all the spices: cumin, chili powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in the tomato sauce and ensure the beef bullion cube is broken up and dissolved. Cover with 4-5 cups of water, bring to a simmer for 5 minutes, then cover and cook for an additional 10 minutes or until the shells are tender. Serve hot and enjoy this flavorful, one-pot wonder!
