Perfect for parties, game nights, or a cozy family dinner, this recipe is easy to make and even easier to love. Plus, the au jus dipping sauce takes it to the next level!
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter (for cooking onions)
- 1 medium onion (thinly sliced)
- 2 tsp fresh thyme (chopped)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 12 sweet rolls (Hawaiian or dinner rolls)
- 10 slices provolone cheese
- 14 ounces sliced roast beef
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted, for topping)
- 1 and 1/2 tbsp dried onion soup mix
- 1 packet au jus gravy mix
- 3 cups water
- Fresh chopped parsley (for garnish)
Preparation:
Step 1: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 3 tbsp of butter. Add the sliced onions and coat them in the butter. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 12-15 minutes until the onions are soft and caramelized but not burnt. Stir in the fresh thyme, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and set aside. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Remove the rolls from the package, keeping them in a single piece.
Step 2: Using a serrated knife, slice the rolls horizontally to separate the tops and bottoms. Place the bottom half of the rolls, cut side up, into an 11×7 baking dish. Layer half of the provolone cheese on top, followed by the sliced roast beef. Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the beef, then add the remaining cheese. Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese.
Step 3: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and dried onion soup mix. Brush this mixture evenly over the top of the rolls for a golden, buttery finish. Cover the dish loosely with foil, ensuring it doesn’t touch the rolls, and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to brown the tops. While the sliders bake, prepare the au jus sauce according to the packet instructions using 3 cups of water.
Serve these French Dip Sliders warm, garnished with fresh parsley, alongside the au jus sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
